Congratulations to the 2009 Prize WinnerGrant Underwood has been selected as the winner of the 2009 Prize. His paper, "An Explication of Taxis in The Sun Also Rises," was completed for Professor Debra Moddelmog's course, English 564.04, Major American Authors of the Twentieth Century. About the Prize
The Prize is awarded annually in spring to at least one Ohio State University undergraduate student. Students enrolled in any upper division undergraduate course (300 or above) are eligible to participate. Students partner with librarians throughout the research process to produce an award winning project. Submissions are judged by the Libraries' Teaching and Learning Committee, according to criteria described below. The winning project team (student author, instructor, and the collaborating librarian) are acknowledged at an award ceremony. A prize of $1,000 will also be presented ($750 for the student author; $250 for the instructor). Winning projects will be submitted to the Undergraduate Research Prize Collection in the OSU Knowledge Bank repository, where they will have a permanent home and Web address. This site is also indexed by Google, so projects are available to a worldwide audience.How to Participate
When your instructor assigns a research project that will involve using library or Web resources:- Contact and meet with a librarian to develop a research plan. Librarians who serve various disciplines/departments are listed at: http://library.osu.edu/sites/collections
- As you work on your project, complete the research journal form.
- Before submitting your work, meet again with your librarian to review your research journal.
- Complete the student submission form and send it to us, along with your graded project and research journal.
- Ask your instructor to complete and send the faculty assessment form.
Review Criteria
The Committee considers the following when judging submissions:- Instructor's assessment of project quality;
- Appropriate use of library and other information resources, as reflected in the bibliography and journal;
- Completeness and quality of the research journal;
- Project significance.
